"I'm too much work and people will eventually give up on me"
How it sounds in your head: I can see people getting tired of me. Every relationship feels like borrowed time before they realize I'm not worth the effort. My last boyfriend said I was 'a lot to deal with.' Maybe I should just stop trying so people can leave before I get attached.
"The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Abandonment wound weaponized by the enemy to create self-fulfilling prophecy of isolation and rejection
She's been left before - by parents, friends, boyfriends - always with the message that she was too complicated or demanding. Every new relationship feels like counting down to inevitable abandonment.
Hagar was cast out, alone, pregnant, and abandoned in the desert. God found her immediately, spoke to her personally, and she became the only person in Scripture to give God a name: 'You are the God who SEES me.' He pursued her twice when everyone else left.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too much work. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord rejoices over me with SINGING, quiets me with His love, and celebrates me with gladness. Hagar was abandoned in a desert and God pursued her twice, spoke to her personally, and she named Him 'the God who SEES me.' IT IS WRITTEN that NOTHING can separate me from the love of God - not circumstances, not my complexity, not my needs. The Father RAN to the prodigal who was actual work - and didn't count the cost. I am the BARAK-blessed daughter of Abraham, and the blessing doesn't abandon its own.
The Father is not counting the cost of you - He already paid it and calls you worth it. He's the God who left ninety-nine to pursue ONE, who carved your name on His palms, who sings over you while you sleep, and He will never, ever walk away.
