"My intense feelings about small things are overreactions"
How it sounds in your head: You cry over commercials, get upset when routines change, feel deeply about things others brush off. People say 'It's not that big a deal' and you wonder if you're losing emotional proportion, becoming dramatic.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35Dismissal curse - a culture that labels deep feeling as dysfunction instead of honoring the gift of sensitivity
Everything feels magnified now. A cancelled visit devastates you. A kind word brings tears. You hear yourself apologizing for 'being silly' when emotions overwhelm you, and you wonder if age has made you unstable.
When Peter realized he'd denied Jesus, he didn't shed a quiet tear - he 'went out and wept bitterly.' His emotional intensity over his failure seemed extreme, yet Jesus didn't rebuke him. Instead, Jesus restored him and built His church on this man of intense feeling.
I REFUSE the lie that my feelings are overreactions. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus wept - God Himself feels deeply. My emotional intensity is not instability; it's a GIFT of a heart fully present and alive. IT IS WRITTEN: The righteous cry out and the Lord hears. God doesn't dismiss my feelings as 'too much.' He honors every tear, every joy, every grief. The BARAK blessing includes emotional wholeness, and I celebrate my capacity to FEEL deeply without shame.
Your Father gave you the gift of feeling deeply because He feels deeply, and every emotion you experience - joy, sorrow, delight, grief - He's experiencing WITH you, not watching from a distance judging your proportion.
