"My hormonal issues are punishment for past sexual sin."
How it sounds in your head: I wasn't pure before marriage. Maybe this PCOS, these irregular cycles, this infertility—maybe it's consequence. Maybe God is making my body pay for what I did. I confessed, but the symptoms remain, so maybe I'm still under judgment.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
-- Isaiah 43:25Source: Religious shame that weaponizes physical symptoms as proof of ongoing divine punishment, denying the finished work of the cross.
The sin was sexual, the symptoms are reproductive—the connection feels karmic. Purity culture taught that sexual sin has unique lasting consequences, making the lie feel doctrinally sound.
Dragged before Jesus, caught in the very act, law demanded stoning—religious leaders wanted judgment. Jesus wrote in the sand, accusers left, and He said, 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.' INSTANT acquittal, no punishment, no consequences extracted, just freedom.
I REFUSE the lie that hormonal issues are payment for past sexual sin. IT IS WRITTEN that God does not remember my sins—not 'forgives but extracts consequences.' The woman caught in adultery received ZERO condemnation from Jesus, no physical punishment, just 'Go and sin no more.' IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO condemnation for those in Christ. The blood of Jesus doesn't partially cover; it COMPLETELY covers. I am forgiven, my body is blessed, the curse is broken.
Your Father doesn't keep a ledger of past sins to punish through your body—He threw the ledger into the sea of forgetfulness and runs toward you with the robe, the ring, the full restoration, while you're still ashamed of where you've been.
