"My health issues are punishment for how I treated my body. I should have taken better care of myself."
How it sounds in your head: Years of stress, bad eating, ignoring symptoms. Now diabetes, heart issues, medications daily. This is my fault. I'm reaping what I sowed. God's not going to heal what I caused through my own neglect.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Religious karma teaching that health problems are divine punishment for past choices, blocking expectation of healing grace.
Doctors explicitly connect his conditions to lifestyle choices. Every pill feels like a reminder of his failures. Well-meaning Christians quoted 'your body is a temple'—he desecrated it, now faces consequences. Cause and effect feels like spiritual law.
This man was sick for 38 YEARS, lying helpless by the pool. Jesus didn't ask 'how did you get sick?' or 'what did you do to deserve this?' He simply said 'Rise, take up your bed and walk'—and IMMEDIATELY the man was made well.
I REFUSE the lie that my health issues are punishment for past neglect. IT IS WRITTEN that by Jesus' stripes I AM HEALED—past tense, finished work. The chastisement for my peace was on HIM, not on me. Jesus didn't ask the man sick for 38 years what he did to deserve it—He just healed him instantly. The woman with the issue of blood for 12 years was healed immediately, not after proving better self-care. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law, and sickness is part of that curse. The BARAK blessing isn't earned by perfect health habits—it's covenant. I receive healing not because I deserve it, but because Jesus purchased it. My body is being restored by His grace, not my performance.
The Father is saying: 'Son, I'm not waiting for you to 'deserve' healing through better choices. Jesus already paid for your healing 2,000 years ago. Every symptom, every diagnosis, every consequence—He carried it to the cross. I'm not mad about your past—I'm ready to restore your present. Receive what's already yours.'
