"I must forgive everyone who hurt me before God will forgive me and let me into heaven."

How it sounds in your head: There are people who wounded me deeply—my father's abuse, the business partner who betrayed me, the friend who abandoned me when I got sick. The Lord's Prayer says 'forgive us as we forgive'—if I die with unforgiveness in my heart, God won't forgive me. I'm trying to forgive, but some wounds won't heal, and that might disqualify me.

Colossians 2:13

"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses."

-- Colossians 2:13
Enemy whispers: 'Unforgiveness blocks God's forgiveness of you.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Colossians 2:13—'He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you ALL trespasses.' PAST TENSE. Already done. Jesus spoke Matthew 6 and 18 BEFORE the cross under Old Covenant; the New Covenant declares 'their sins I will remember no more' (Heb 8:12). IT IS WRITTEN: You are forgiven by His blood, not by your ability to manufacture emotions toward those who wounded you. The thief on the cross didn't forgive anyone—still got paradise TODAY.
Quick Truth: LIE: Must forgive to be forgiven. TRUTH: He already forgave ALL trespasses; New Covenant isn't conditional (Col 2:13, Heb 8:12).

Religion weaponized Old Covenant conditional forgiveness as New Covenant requirement; enemy holds your wounds hostage.

Why this feels true:

Jesus literally said 'if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive you,' and you can feel specific unforgiveness like rocks in your chest. The inability to force feelings creates terror that unforgiveness will block heaven's entrance.

Acts 7:59-60
Stephen

As they stoned Stephen to death, he cried 'Lord, do not charge them with this sin' and immediately died—his forgiveness of murderers didn't EARN heaven; it FLOWED from already being heaven-bound. His forgiveness was fruit of grace received, not requirement to receive grace.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my forgiveness of others determines God's forgiveness of me. IT IS WRITTEN: He has already forgiven me ALL trespasses by the blood of Jesus—past tense, finished work. Jesus spoke conditional forgiveness BEFORE the cross; the New Covenant says 'their sins I will remember no more.' IT IS WRITTEN: I am the righteousness of God in Christ, not based on my ability to force feelings toward those who wounded me. Stephen's forgiveness flowed FROM grace, not TO GET grace. The thief forgave no one and got paradise. My forgiveness of others is FRUIT of abiding in the Vine, not ROOT of my acceptance. God's forgiveness of me is based on Jesus, period.

But God actually:

The Father doesn't withhold forgiveness until you produce perfect forgiveness toward others—He runs toward you already declaring you forgiven, and from that position of being forgiven, forgiveness toward others flows naturally. Your inability to manufacture emotions doesn't change His completed forgiveness of you by blood, not behavior.
