"My family will never trust me again — I destroyed too much"
How it sounds in your head: You see it in their eyes — they're waiting for you to fail again. Your wife double-checks everything. Your kids are cautious. They say they forgive you, but the trust is gone. You burned it all down, and even years sober, you're still the guy who can't be fully trusted. You'll spend the rest of your life proving yourself.
"So I will RESTORE to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust."
-- Joel 2:25Religion/World system that says trust must be EARNED back through years of perfect behavior
You DID hurt them — deeply, repeatedly. They HAVE been burned. Their caution feels justified. Every 'boundaries' book and counselor says trust is earned, not given. You feel like you're on permanent probation, and maybe that's just how it has to be forever.
Job lost EVERYTHING — children, wealth, health, reputation. His friends accused him, his wife told him to curse God and die. When God restored him, He didn't just give back what was lost — He gave DOUBLE: twice the livestock, same number of children but they lived to see four generations, and died 'old and full of days.' Full restoration PLUS generational legacy.
I REFUSE the lie that my family will never trust me again. IT IS WRITTEN that God will RESTORE the years the locust has eaten — not just stop the damage, but REBUILD. IT IS WRITTEN that instead of my shame I will have DOUBLE HONOR — not 'earn back what I lost,' but receive MORE than I lost. Like the prodigal came home to a PARTY, not a probation period, my Father doesn't make me grovel. Like Job received DOUBLE what he lost, God is not just repairing my relationships — He's RESTORING them with LAVISH grace. The Abrahamic BARAK blessing of restored relationships and family honor rests on me, and God is doing IMMEASURABLY MORE than I can ask or imagine in my family.
Father isn't making your family go through a 'trust rebuilding process' with you on probation. Like the prodigal's father SILENCED the son's 'make me a servant' speech and threw a party, your Father is working in your family's hearts to see you the way HE sees you — RESTORED, CLEAN, LOVED. He's not waiting for you to prove yourself; He's already declaring you TRUSTWORTHY in Him.
