"My family history of this disease means I'm destined to get it too."
How it sounds in your head: It runs in my family. My dad had it, my grandfather had it, my uncle died from it. The genetic counselor showed me the percentages—I have the gene mutation. It's not if, it's when. I'm watching my body for the same symptoms they had, waiting for the shoe to drop. I feel like I'm on death row waiting for my turn. The family curse is coming for me and there's nothing I can do about it. My DNA has already decided my fate.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
-- Galatians 3:13-14Source: Enemy using generational patterns and genetic evidence to present family history as destiny stronger than covenant blood.
He's watched multiple family members suffer and die from the same disease. Genetic testing confirms he has the markers. Medical science backs it up—'hereditary,' 'genetic predisposition,' 'family history is a risk factor.' The pattern is undeniable. It feels foolish to ignore biological inheritance. Science and family history both point to the same inevitable conclusion.
A man was born blind—not developed blindness later, but BORN with it—genetic, from birth, 'destined' for blindness. Disciples asked, 'Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'—looking for generational cause. Jesus said, 'NEITHER—but that the works of God should be revealed in him.' Then Jesus spit on the ground, made clay, touched his eyes, and the man born blind INSTANTLY received sight. Genetic 'destiny' from birth overridden in ONE MOMENT. Jesus didn't even speak a word—just touched him and BOOM, sight.
I REFUSE the lie that family history is my destiny. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ has redeemed me from the curse and brought me under the blessing of Abraham. My identity is not determined by my earthly father's DNA but by my Heavenly Father's covenant. I am a NEW CREATION in Christ—old things have passed away, ALL things have become new. That includes generational patterns. The blood of Jesus speaks a better word than my genetic markers. IT IS WRITTEN in Exodus 20:6 that God shows mercy to THOUSANDS of generations of those who love Him—that generational blessing is stronger than any generational curse. I am not destined for my family's disease; I am destined for my Father's promise of divine health. Father, You're not intimidated by my DNA report; You're running toward me with resurrection life that REWRITES my biological code with Kingdom DNA.
Your Father doesn't look at your genetic test results and think, 'Well, I guess his family history wins.' He looks at you and sees the blood of Jesus—covenant blood that trumps biological blood, divine DNA that overpowers genetic markers. He's running toward you with NEW CREATION LIFE that makes you something your family tree has never seen before.
