"At my age, healing would be wasted - I've lived most of my life already."
How it sounds in your head: Even if God could heal me, what's the point? I'm 75. Maybe if I were 40 with kids to raise, but my productive years are behind me. Why would God invest a miracle in someone who'll just die of something else soon anyway? The young need healing more than I do. I've had my run.
"They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:14Enemy assigns expiration dates to God's love and convinces the aged their worth diminished so Father's investment in them seems illogical stewardship.
You feel invisible already - stores, restaurants, even church seems oriented to younger families. The culture worships youth; you see the billions spent on anti-aging while actual aged people are warehoused. If you're honest, you sometimes feel like you're just waiting to die, taking up space, past your usefulness.
At 99 years old - one year from 100, far past any productive prime, with a lifetime of waiting behind him - God didn't say 'too late, you're too old for miracle babies.' God gave him supernatural strength, rewrote Sarah's 90-year-old biology, and started the covenant nation from a centenarian's bedroom.
I REFUSE the lie that my age diminishes my value to the Father or that healing is wasted on the elderly. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall bear fruit in OLD AGE and be fresh and flourishing - not wilting and warehoused, not managed and medicated, FLOURISHING with vitality. The BARAK blessing made Abraham strong at 100 to father nations; that same covenant covers me with better promises in Christ's blood. IT IS WRITTEN in Joel 2:28 that old men will dream dreams - God has vision for my future, assignments for my latter years, fruit that requires health and strength to bear. I am not taking up space waiting to die; I am a son positioned for latter glory that exceeds the former. My best years are not behind me when I'm connected to the Vine - branches don't retire from fruit-bearing while attached to Jesus.
Your Father isn't doing triage, deciding you've lived enough years to skip for younger patients - He's running toward you with the same fierce love that gave a 100-year-old man bedroom strength for a miracle baby. The party isn't over; He's just bringing out the fattened calf for the second half that will eclipse the first.
