"My body's limitations prove I'm being punished for past sins or lack of obedience."
How it sounds in your head: You've searched your past wondering what you did to deserve this. Was it that abortion in your twenties? The relationship you knew was wrong? The years you walked away from God? Is this disability divine punishment for a life not lived perfectly? The guilt compounds the physical pain.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Old Covenant karma thinking that ties physical condition to moral standing despite the finished work of the cross.
The timing seemed connected—the diagnosis came after that season of rebellion, the accident happened when you were far from God. It feels like consequence, like reaping what you sowed.
Dragged before Jesus in the ACT of adultery, deserving death penalty under law. Jesus said 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.' No punishment. No consequence. Instant freedom despite guilt.
I REFUSE the lie that my disability is punishment for past sin. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus forgave ALL my trespasses and nailed EVERY requirement to the cross. There is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not for past sin, not for present struggle, NONE. My body's condition is not God's judgment. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ REDEEMED me from the curse of the law, which includes sickness. The woman caught in adultery heard 'Neither do I condemn you' from Jesus. I hear the SAME words. The BARAK blessing covers me despite every failure because it's based on COVENANT, not conduct. I am FORGIVEN. I am RIGHTEOUS. I am NOT being punished.
The Father doesn't look at your disability and think 'that's what you get.' He looks at your disability with compassion and says 'that's what the enemy stole—let Me restore.' He's running toward you with healing, not holding past sins over your head that were nailed to a cross 2,000 years ago.
