"I've researched too much. Ignorance is bliss, but I can't unknow what I've learned."
How it sounds in your head: He wishes he could go back to simple faith before he read the critiques, before he knew about the Documentary Hypothesis or textual variants or the problem of evil. Knowledge feels like a curse. The more he learns, the less certain he becomes.
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter."
-- Proverbs 25:2Enemy: convinces seekers that knowledge and faith are enemies, that digging deeper leads away from God instead of deeper into Him.
The people around him who never questioned anything seem happier, more peaceful. His hunger for truth feels like it's destroying his faith rather than strengthening it.
The Bereans were called 'more noble' because they didn't just accept Paul's teaching—they SEARCHED the Scriptures daily to verify everything he said. Their digging wasn't condemned; it was COMMENDED. They fact-checked an apostle and God praised them for it.
I REFUSE the lie that research is destroying my faith. IT IS WRITTEN: it is the glory of KINGS to search out a matter—I'm not doubting, I'm KINGING. The Bereans searched the Scriptures daily to verify Paul's teaching, and they were called 'more noble'—God COMMENDED their investigation. IT IS WRITTEN: 'You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart' (Jeremiah 29:13). My digging isn't leading me AWAY from God; it's leading me DEEPER. I am Abraham's seed, the BARAK blessing includes wisdom and revelation. The Spirit of truth lives in me to guide me through the questions into encounter. My hunger for truth isn't a curse—it's a kingdom assignment. God isn't hiding from my questions; He's inviting me to find Him in the search.
The Father isn't panicking that you're asking hard questions—He's inviting you into the treasure hunt. He concealed things not to keep you in the dark but to give you the thrill of discovery, and He's cheering you on as you dig.
