"I've been emotionally distant so long, I'm incapable of the deep connection love requires."
How it sounds in your head: You were trained to be the strong, silent type. Emotions are weakness. Fix problems, don't feel them. Now you're fifty-something and realize you don't know HOW to connect deeply. Your wife says you're emotionally unavailable. Your kids don't open up to you. You've built walls so thick, you're not sure there's anyone left inside them worth loving.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
-- Ezekiel 36:26Generational pattern: toxic masculinity training that emotional suppression equals strength; trauma from father's emotional absence.
You can point to decades of evidence—conversations avoided, feelings buried, connections missed. The neural pathways for emotional intimacy feel atrophied. It's not that you won't connect; you're not sure you CAN anymore. The wiring seems permanently damaged.
Lazarus was DEAD for four days—decomposing, beyond all natural hope of resurrection. Jesus didn't gradually revive him through process. One command: 'Lazarus, come forth!' Instant. Complete. From death to life in a moment. What seems permanently dead in you is a 'come forth' away from resurrection.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too emotionally dead to love deeply. IT IS WRITTEN: Ezekiel 36:26—God gives me a NEW HEART and removes the heart of stone. Not repairs the old one. NEW. Not through years of therapy—through HIS POWER. IT IS WRITTEN: 2 Corinthians 5:17—I am a NEW CREATION; old things PASSED AWAY. Past tense. Done. The emotional walls I think are permanent are nothing to resurrection power. Lazarus was DEAD FOUR DAYS and came forth at one word. My emotions aren't beyond resurrection. I receive a new heart, supernatural capacity for connection, divine emotional awakening RIGHT NOW.
The Father is whispering: 'The walls you think protect you are actually tombs I'm about to call you out of. I'm not frustrated by your emotional death—I specialize in RESURRECTION. Come forth. The graveclothes of generational patterns fall off at My word.' He's already shouting your name at the tomb entrance.
