"I've been abusive—emotionally, verbally, maybe physically. I'm dangerous. I should stay isolated to protect others from me."
How it sounds in your head: You've seen the fear in their eyes when you rage. You've heard the things you've said that can't be unsaid. You've crossed lines you swore you never would. The safest thing for everyone is for you to keep your distance, stay in your lane, don't get too close to anyone. You're a bomb waiting to go off.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Condemnation that defines a man by his worst moments, rejecting the transforming power of a new nature in Christ.
The damage he's caused is real, the pain he's inflicted is documented, and isolation feels like the only responsible choice. He's conflated caution with identity, believing his nature is permanently dangerous.
Moses murdered an Egyptian in rage, fled as a fugitive for 40 years, then God appeared in a burning bush and IMMEDIATELY called him to lead Israel—no probation, no extended therapy, just 'I'm sending you NOW' despite the violence in his past.
I REFUSE the lie that my abusive past makes me permanently dangerous. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW creation in Christ—old things have PASSED away. Moses murdered a man and was STILL called to lead. Paul dragged Christians to their deaths and was STILL called an apostle. My identity is not defined by my worst rages but by HIS finished work. IT IS WRITTEN that God has NOT given me a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND. I am not a bomb—I am a son under the BARAK blessing, transformed by covenant, walking in a new nature NOW.
The Father isn't keeping you in isolation until you've proven you're safe—He's calling you INTO community where transformation accelerates. He doesn't see you as a threat to manage; He sees you as a son to restore, and His love casts out the fear that you're too dangerous to be embraced.
