"I've become the kind of woman no one actually wants around"
How it sounds in your head: You used to be fun, joyful, easy. Now you're heavy, complicated, too much work. You've become bitter, anxious, exhausting. The toll of these years has made you into someone people tolerate but don't desire. You're no longer the woman anyone chooses—just the one they're stuck with.
"Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married."
-- Isaiah 62:4Source: enemy's attack on identity through life's legitimate hardships, twisted to make scars evidence of undesirability rather than survival, shame about not bouncing back
She feels the weight of accumulated years, unhealed wounds that affect how she shows up, legitimate fatigue that makes her less sparkly. She compares her forties self to her twenties self and grieves what's been lost to life's battles.
Leah was the unwanted wife, unloved, constantly competing for affection she never received from Jacob. But GOD saw her, opened her womb, gave her six sons and a daughter—and from her lineage came JUDAH, the line of JESUS. The one deemed undesirable carried the Messiah's ancestry.
I REFUSE the lie that I've become unwanted. IT IS WRITTEN: 'The LORD calls me HEPHZIBAH—His DELIGHT is in me.' I am not defined by who chose or didn't choose me. I am CHOSEN by the King of Kings. My scars are not disqualifications—they're DECORATIONS of survival. IT IS WRITTEN: 'He rejoices over me with SINGING.' I stop agreeing with rejection and start receiving DELIGHT. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing makes me DESIRABLE, VALUABLE, and CELEBRATED in the rooms Father assigns me to.
Father isn't disappointed by who you've become through the battles. He's proud of who SURVIVED. He's running toward you with the robe, not asking why you don't look like you did in your twenties. He calls you HEPHZIBAH—My Delight.
