"No one values my presence; I'm just a body in a bed to manage."
How it sounds in your head: They talk about you in third person while standing right there. Caregivers discuss medications and schedules like you're not present. You're a task on someone's checklist, not a person to engage.
"The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17World's dehumanization of the elderly and dependent, magnified by medical system that treats bodies instead of people.
Conversations happen ABOUT you but not WITH you. People look at charts instead of your eyes. You're moved, medicated, and managed like an object, not a person.
Crippled in both feet, hiding in obscurity, saw himself as a 'dead dog.' King David brought him to the palace, gave him permanent place at the king's table, and restored everything - not for what he could DO, but because of COVENANT with his father. Disability didn't diminish his value.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm just a body to manage. IT IS WRITTEN that God REJOICES over me with SINGING - not sighing, SINGING. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, PRESENT TENSE, even now. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:10 that Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT life - not 'abundant life until your body fails.' My value isn't in what I can do but in whose I AM. I am a daughter of the King, seated at His table by covenant blood, and He delights in my PRESENCE, not my performance.
The Father doesn't see a body to manage - He sees His beloved daughter. When humans talk ABOUT you, He's talking TO you, singing over you, rejoicing in your existence simply because you're HIS.
