"I've asked God to increase my faith but nothing's changed"
How it sounds in your head: I've prayed for more faith, more belief, more trust. I feel the same. Maybe God only gives that to certain people. I'm stuck at this low level of faith and can't seem to break through.
"For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith."
-- Romans 12:3Misunderstanding faith as a QUANTITY you accumulate through effort rather than a GIFT that grows through revelation of WHO HE IS.
You've genuinely asked for more faith and don't feel different. The religious equation says ask + receive = change, so if nothing changed, maybe God said no or you're disqualified.
A Gentile woman with NO theology training argued with Jesus using HIS OWN LOGIC about dogs eating crumbs. Jesus called it GREAT faith and healed her daughter THAT VERY HOUR. She didn't attend faith school - she simply wouldn't let go of His nature. Persistence revealed faith already there.
I REFUSE the lie that I lack faith. IT IS WRITTEN that God has ALREADY dealt me a measure of faith - it's a GIFT, not something I achieve. Faith comes by HEARING the Word, not by striving. I already HAVE access to everything I need through His divine power. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing is impossible to him who believes - and the father admitted unbelief yet got healing anyway. The BARAK blessing didn't require Abraham to 'get more faith' - the covenant stood regardless. My Father isn't withholding until I reach some faith quota. The Syrophoenician woman's 'great faith' was simply refusing to accept NO based on His nature.
Your Father already GAVE you faith as a gift. It's not about quantity but OBJECT - even mustard seed faith moves mountains when it's IN HIM. The woman who touched Jesus' garment didn't have theology, just desperation focused on His power.
