"God responds to people who fast and pray more, not casual faith like mine"
How it sounds in your head: I see testimonies from people who fasted 40 days or prayed for hours. Maybe that's the level of dedication God actually responds to. My 5-minute morning prayers feel like spiritual scraps compared to their discipline.
"Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, 'Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?' When Jesus heard that, He said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice.'"
-- Matthew 9:10-13Works-based spirituality that turns disciplines into currency you trade for God's attention, making intimacy transactional.
Every major breakthrough testimony includes 'I fasted and prayed for X days' as if THAT'S what unlocked it. Your normal prayer life feels inadequate compared to their spiritual Olympics.
A dying CRIMINAL with no baptism, no communion, no fasting, no prayer life, no Bible study. One sentence: 'Remember me.' Jesus' response: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' No probation, no spiritual boot camp, no 'prove yourself first.' Immediate access through simple turning.
I REFUSE the lie that spiritual discipline earns God's response. IT IS WRITTEN that God desires MERCY not SACRIFICE - He's moved by need, not performance. The thief on the cross got Paradise with ONE PRAYER. Jesus ate with sinners who had no spiritual resume while rebuking the fasting Pharisees. IT IS WRITTEN that I have access by BLOOD, not by spiritual Olympics. The BARAK blessing operated for Abraham when he LIED, not when he fasted. My Father ran to the prodigal who brought NOTHING but stink and need. I am righteous by GIFT. Fasting is intimacy, not currency. The centurion got 'greatest faith in Israel' with zero Jewish spiritual practices.
Your Father doesn't have a minimum spiritual discipline requirement for breakthrough. The criminal got Paradise in his final breath. The sinners eating with Jesus got MORE access than the fasting Pharisees. He responds to NEED, not credentials.
