"Insomnia runs in my family—I inherited this curse and can't escape it."
How it sounds in your head: Your dad had it, your grandfather had it, you have it. It's genetic, passed down like eye color. You're fighting biology, and biology always wins. This is your lot—manage it, don't expect to overcome it.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
-- Galatians 3:13-14Generational curse mindset: bloodline as stronger than blood of Jesus, natural inheritance overriding spiritual inheritance.
You literally watched family members struggle with sleep your whole life. The pattern is undeniable. Doctors talk genetics, and science backs it up. This isn't spiritual—it's DNA.
Rahab was a Canaanite prostitute under God's judgment—entire city marked for destruction, family line cursed. She believed, and INSTANTLY her whole household was saved, brought into Israel, and she became great-grandmother to KING DAVID and ancestral line to JESUS—generational curse completely reversed in one act of faith.
I REFUSE the lie that family patterns are my destiny. IT IS WRITTEN: Christ REDEEMED me from every curse, and the blessing of Abraham is mine through Jesus. My grandfather's insomnia has NO AUTHORITY over me—I have new bloodline, new inheritance, new covenant. IT IS WRITTEN: I am a NEW creation; old things have passed away, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). That includes generational sleep issues. The BARAK that protected Abraham the LIAR and Jacob the DECEIVER protects me REGARDLESS of natural lineage. I am blessed coming in and going out, lying down and rising up. Generational curses END at the cross. I sleep in NEW covenant tonight.
Your Father doesn't see you as continuation of broken family patterns—He sees you as FIRSTBORN of a NEW line. When He looks at you, He doesn't see your grandfather's struggle; He sees His Son's righteousness. You're not the end of a curse; you're the BEGINNING of blessing.
