"I'm too young and awkward. Girls want older, confident guys, not someone still figuring things out."
How it sounds in your head: Your voice cracks. You got a random boner in math class. You don't know what to say around girls. The guys they like are juniors with cars and facial hair. You're years away from being someone anyone would choose.
"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
-- 1 Timothy 4:12World system assigning value based on physical development and social performance instead of covenant identity.
Puberty is making your body weird and unpredictable. Girls your age ARE looking at older guys. You feel like a kid while everyone else seems like they have it together.
David was the YOUNGEST, the overlooked kid stuck with sheep while his brothers went to war. Samuel almost left without anointing anyone because nobody thought to call David. God chose him ANYWAY—anointed him king as a teenager, and later gave him multiple wives including beautiful Bathsheba.
I REFUSE the lie that my age disqualifies me from God's best. IT IS WRITTEN: let no one despise my youth, including ME. I am not too young for God's plan. I am not too awkward for His blessing. The BARAK that protected and prospered teenage David is ON ME. IT IS WRITTEN that God's gifts and calling are irrevocable. I don't have to wait to become someone else. I am chosen NOW, blessed NOW, and favored NOW. My awkwardness doesn't cancel my covenant.
Your Father isn't rolling His eyes at your voice cracks and waiting for you to become someone else. He's cheering for you RIGHT NOW, puberty and all. He's not withholding His best until you hit 18—He's giving you HIMSELF, and everything else comes with that package.
