"Christian men my age just want a nurse or a purse—nobody wants a real partnership."
How it sounds in your head: You've been on enough coffee dates to see the pattern. Widowers want someone to take care of them or their money. Divorced men want a replacement bangmaid. Nobody's looking for an equal—they want a caretaker or a wallet.
"And the LORD God said, 'It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.'"
-- Genesis 2:18Enemy: Cynicism curse—using past disappointments to blind you to God's actual provision and paint all men with one brush.
You've heard the pitch: 'I need someone to help with my health issues' or 'I'm looking for someone financially stable.' It's transactional, not relational. You feel like a resume, not a person.
Ruth was a broke widow gleaning scraps. Boaz didn't proposition her or ask her to serve him—he PROTECTED her, PROVIDED for her, and gave her more than she asked. Instant generosity and honor from a wealthy man toward a powerless woman—pure grace, zero transaction.
I REFUSE the lie that all men want a nurse or a purse. IT IS WRITTEN that God designed a helper COMPARABLE—an equal, not a servant. The right man is being prepared by the Father to CHERISH me as Boaz cherished Ruth and Isaac loved Rebekah. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 5:25 that husbands are to love as Christ loved the church. I stand under the BARAK blessing—blessed coming in and going out. The Father is RUNNING toward me with His best, not leftovers. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and my partnership will reflect heaven's design, not earth's dysfunction.
The Father isn't sending you a project or a user. He's preparing a man whose heart He's already worked on, who will see you as Boaz saw Ruth—worth protecting, providing for, and honoring beyond what you ask.
