Too Much
"I'm too focused on my physical decline—I should be more spiritually minded, less concerned with the body."

How it sounds in your head: You're obsessing over every new symptom, every loss of function. Spiritual people think about heaven, not their failing kidneys. Your mind is on pain levels, bathroom schedules, medication times—earthly, carnal concerns. You should be above this by now, meditating on eternal things, not your catheter.

1 Corinthians 6:19

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"

-- 1 Corinthians 6:19
Enemy whispers: You're too focused on your body, not spiritual enough. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Corinthians 6:19 - 'Your body is the TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit.' Not 'used to be temple when it worked.' Not 'temple if you ignore it.' Your body—this one, now, declining—is HOLY GROUND. God LIVES THERE. Caring about it isn't carnal—it's stewardship of sacred space. Jesus rose with a BODY. You'll have one in eternity. Physical concern isn't unspiritual—it's human, and He became human on PURPOSE.
Quick Truth: LIE: Too focused on body, not spiritual enough. TRUTH: Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit—physical concern is holy. (1 Cor 6:19)

False spirituality that creates hierarchy where 'spiritual' concerns are holy and physical ones are carnal, denying the incarnational reality that God BECAME FLESH and calls bodies temples.

Why this feels true:

You spend hours thinking about your body—what hurts, what doesn't work, what you've lost. It feels shallow compared to thinking about Scripture or heaven. You hear 'set your mind on things above' and feel guilty every time you focus on earthly pain.

Philippians 2:25-27
Epaphroditus

Paul's co-worker got so sick he nearly died. Paul didn't rebuke him for being too focused on physical health—he wrote that Epaphroditus was 'distressed' about his illness, and God had MERCY on him by healing, and Paul wanted him honored for risking his life.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my body's decline is unworthy of attention. IT IS WRITTEN that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit—declining, aging, failing, and STILL HOLY. Paul honored Epaphroditus's physical suffering, didn't call it unspiritual. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus rose with a BODY, touched and ate and proved physicality matters to God. I am not less spiritual for caring about pain, for mourning lost function, for focusing on what hurts. I am HUMAN, by God's design, and He sanctifies my humanity, including this body's final chapter. I am the righteousness of God in Christ—body, mind, spirit, ALL.

But God actually:

The Father isn't waiting for you to transcend your body's needs—He GAVE you that body, dwells IN that body, and will RESURRECT that body. Every concern about it matters to Him because YOU matter, all of you, physical and spiritual, inseparably loved.
