"I'm too damaged from what I've seen or experienced—no one could love me if they knew."
How it sounds in your head: There are images in my head I can't unsee. Things that happened that I didn't ask for but feel branded by. Secrets I carry that feel like stains. If people knew, they wouldn't see me the same way. I'm not innocent anymore, and love feels like something for girls who still are.
"Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool."
-- Isaiah 1:18Enemy weaponizing trauma/exposure + religious purity culture that equates virginity/innocence with value + shame that says damage equals disqualification.
Whether through her own curiosity or something done TO her, she's been exposed to things that stole innocence, and every message says that makes her 'less than.' The silence around trauma and the purity rhetoric makes her feel permanently marked.
Dragged into the temple courts, caught IN THE ACT of adultery—publicly humiliated, surrounded by men with stones, guilty as charged. Jesus didn't lecture her about purity or make her prove repentance. He dismissed her accusers and said, 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.' INSTANT forgiveness. NO shame. Just freedom.
I REFUSE the lie that I am too damaged to be loved. IT IS WRITTEN that though my sins are like scarlet, they shall be WHITE AS SNOW—not stained, not marked, not disqualified, but WASHED CLEAN by the blood of Jesus. What I've seen does not define me; what's happened does not disqualify me. The enemy says I'm permanently branded, but IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION—old things have passed away, ALL things have become new. I am not 'damaged goods.' I am the righteousness of God in Christ, covered by a blood that doesn't leave stains but REMOVES them. There is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus. I am loved, whole, and FREE.
The Father isn't keeping a record of what you've seen or experienced, tallying up ways you're now 'less than.' He's the One who covered Adam and Eve's nakedness with His own hands, who told the woman caught in adultery that He didn't condemn her, who put a prostitute in Jesus' family tree. He doesn't see damage; He sees a daughter He's running toward with a robe of purity that doesn't depend on your past.
