"I have to hide my struggles or people will see I'm not strong enough to be loved."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone else seems to have it together. If I admit I'm struggling with depression, anxiety, cutting thoughts, or suicidal feelings, they'll see I'm weak and defective. Strong girls don't fall apart. Loved girls don't need this much help. So I smile and fake it and feel like I'm drowning alone.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Enemy weaponizing shame around mental health + world's 'strong independent woman' lie + church culture that spiritualizes brokenness instead of addressing it.
She sees the Instagram highlight reels and believes everyone else is fine. The few times she's hinted at struggle, she got spiritual platitudes or awkward silence. She's learned that vulnerability feels like weakness, and weakness feels like disqualification from love.
The mighty prophet who called down fire from heaven was suicidal under a tree, begging God to let him die, convinced he was alone and a failure. God didn't rebuke him for weakness or tell him to have more faith. He sent an ANGEL with FOOD, let him sleep, and spoke gently. INSTANT care for the broken prophet, no shame.
I REFUSE the lie that I must hide my struggles to be loved. IT IS WRITTEN that His grace is SUFFICIENT for me and His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness—not in my performance of strength, but in my ACTUAL weakness. My struggles do not disqualify me; they are the place His power rests on me. I don't have to fake being fine to earn love. IT IS WRITTEN that He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit—which means my brokenness ATTRACTS His presence, not repels it. I am not too much, too broken, too weak. I am exactly where His strength shines brightest. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, loved fully in my honesty, held securely in my struggle.
The Father didn't wait for Elijah to pull himself together and get back to propheting. He sent FOOD and REST and gentle presence to the suicidal prophet under the tree. He's doing the same for you—not demanding you be strong enough to deserve care, but meeting you in the exact place you're falling apart, with PROVISION and PRESENCE and zero shame.
