"And He said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat."
-- Mark 6:31Religious martyr complex presenting self-care as selfishness
She's exhausted and sees every desire for rest as evidence she's not sacrificial enough. Motherhood culture glorifies burnout as devotion.
After massive ministry victory, Elijah collapsed. God didn't rebuke him for needing rest—He sent an angel with food and let him sleep TWICE before giving him his next assignment.
I REFUSE the lie that rest is selfish. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus commanded His disciples to come aside and rest. I receive rest as obedience, not selfishness. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 127:2 that God gives to His beloved even in sleep. My worth isn't measured by exhaustion. Rested, I'm a better mom. I embrace rhythms of rest without guilt.
Your Father is running toward you with an invitation to the deserted place. He's not measuring your devotion by your burnout—He's inviting you to refill so you can overflow.
