"I'm emotionally unavailable and my kids will never feel close to me."
How it sounds in your head: You were raised not to show emotion, and now you don't know how. Your kids want connection and you give them provision. They want your heart and you give them advice. You're repeating the same emotional distance your father had.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
-- Ezekiel 36:26Source: generational pattern mixed with cultural masculinity lies—the enemy convincing you that what you didn't receive, you cannot give.
You literally don't know how to access or express certain emotions. When they cry, you problem-solve instead of empathize. You can't give what you never got.
A man so emotionally destroyed he lived naked among tombs, cutting himself, unable to connect with anyone. One encounter with Jesus and he was instantly clothed, in his right mind, and sent home to tell his family what God had done—complete emotional restoration in moments.
I REFUSE the lie that my emotional limitations disqualify me from deep connection with my children. IT IS WRITTEN that God has given me a NEW HEART, not a repaired old one. The generational curse of emotional unavailability is BROKEN by the blood of Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that I have the mind of Christ—I can learn, grow, and connect in ways my father never could. My kids are under the BARAK blessing, which means they receive BETTER than what I experienced. God is teaching me to father the way He fathers me—with presence, not just provision.
The Father sees you reaching for emotional tools you were never given, and He's flooding you with supernatural capacity to connect. Every awkward attempt you make is covered in His grace and counts as LOVE to your kids because it's REAL.
