"I should have been the spiritual leader but I didn't know the Bible well enough to guide them."
How it sounds in your head: Other dads led family devotions, taught Scripture, prayed with authority. You barely knew where to find verses. You left them spiritually orphaned because you weren't equipped. They had to find God despite you, not because of you.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27Source: Religion's requirement of knowledge/performance masking the Spirit's power to lead beyond human wisdom.
He feels biblically illiterate compared to other men, never led family altar, can't quote verses like pastors. His children's faith journey had no paternal spiritual mentorship.
Peter and John were 'uneducated and untrained men' according to the religious leaders, yet they turned the world upside down. The council 'realized that they had been with JESUS' - relationship trumped education. These unschooled fishermen wrote Scripture and led the early church.
I REFUSE the lie that I failed as spiritual leader because I lacked biblical knowledge. IT IS WRITTEN that God chooses the foolish to shame the wise - my weakness is His OPPORTUNITY. I don't need a theology degree to lead my family to Jesus; I need only to have been WITH Jesus, and I have. IT IS WRITTEN that the Holy Spirit guides into all truth - He's been guiding my family even when I couldn't articulate doctrine. The barak covers my children with supernatural teaching I couldn't provide. My children's faith doesn't depend on my biblical literacy; it depends on God's relentless pursuit of them.
The Father is teaching your children Himself right now - the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is tutoring them in ways your Bible knowledge never could. You didn't need to be Billy Graham; you needed to be THEIR DAD who loved Jesus, and you were.
