"I'm God's biggest failure story—all that grace and I'm still a mess."
How it sounds in your head: God poured out so much grace on me over the years and I squandered it. I'm 90+ and still struggling with the same issues. If grace really worked, I'd be different by now. I'm exhibit A that grace isn't enough.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'"
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Source: Enemy twisted grace into a performance program where visible transformation is required to 'prove' grace worked, making grace conditional on results.
He still battles old thought patterns, temptations, or character weaknesses despite decades as a believer. The persistence of struggle feels like proof that grace 'failed' with him, making him the exception to God's transforming power.
Jacob was a deceiver for DECADES—stole his brother's blessing, manipulated his father-in-law, schemed his whole life. God changed his NAME to Israel and made him father of the twelve tribes WHILE HE WAS STILL A SCHEMER—transformation came AFTER identity change.
I REFUSE the lie that ongoing struggle proves grace failed with me. IT IS WRITTEN that His grace is SUFFICIENT for me, and His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness. I don't prove grace works by becoming perfect—grace proves IT works by covering imperfect me. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. My Father doesn't see failure—He sees a son being transformed by grace from GLORY TO GLORY. Jacob was a deceiver for decades and God made him ISRAEL. My identity is GIFT, not achievement. The BARAK blessing covered Abraham's lies, Isaac's lies, Jacob's deception—it's COVENANT, not conduct. I am not a failure story—I am a GRACE story.
Your Father doesn't see a failed project—He sees a beloved son being transformed from glory to glory. Your weakness is not proof grace failed; it's the canvas where His strength shines brightest.
