"I'm damaged goods—no one will want me romantically with all these health issues."
How it sounds in your head: What guy wants a girlfriend who cancels dates because of flare-ups? Who can't promise she'll feel good on the wedding day? Who comes with medical baggage? I'm a liability in the dating market.
"You are all fair, my love, and there is no flaw in you."
-- Song of Solomon 4:7World's transactional view of love—that you must be 'marketable' to be chosen—completely opposite of covenant love that chooses DESPITE.
She's seen guys lose interest after she explained her limitations. Friends with chronic illness struggle in dating. Culture worships fitness and capability. She feels like she comes with a warning label.
'Leah's eyes were weak' (v.17, literal physical condition), she was unloved by Jacob (v.31). Yet 'the LORD saw that Leah was unloved' and OPENED HER WOMB—gave her Judah, through whom MESSIAH came. Her 'flaw' didn't disqualify her from the MESSIANIC LINE.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm damaged goods. IT IS WRITTEN that I am ALL FAIR and there is NO FLAW in me—that's how my Bridegroom King sees me. My value in relationship isn't determined by my symptoms but by the BLOOD that bought me. I am the Bride of Christ, clothed in HIS righteousness. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 62:5—'As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.' The BARAK blessing makes me FAVORED—the right covenant partner will see me as TREASURE, not liability. I am above only, not beneath—even in love.
The Father didn't wait for the Bride to get her act together before sending His Son—He pursued her WHILE she was still a mess. While you think you need to be 'fixed' to be loved, He's already thrown the engagement party and you're the guest of honor.
