"God must be using this illness to teach me something I need to learn."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe there's a lesson I'm missing and once I learn it, God will heal me. People keep saying 'God doesn't waste pain' and 'there's a purpose in your suffering,' so I must need to figure out what He's trying to teach me through this.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious lie that makes God the author of sickness and puts the burden of decoding suffering on you instead of receiving the finished work.
Christians quote Romans 8:28 about all things working together for good, and your suffering feels meaningless unless there's a lesson attached. If God's not teaching you, then the pain feels random and wasted.
Disciples asked whose sin caused his blindness—his or his parents—assuming God used it to teach something. Jesus said NEITHER—it wasn't about sin or lessons, but about displaying God's works, and He IMMEDIATELY healed him.
I REFUSE the lie that God authors sickness to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give abundant LIFE. Sickness is the thief's work, not my Father's curriculum. Jesus healed the man born blind not after he learned a lesson, but to display God's works. I don't need to decode suffering—I need to receive the gift of healing that's already mine. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse, and sickness is part of that curse. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by completing a divine lesson plan. The Father is running toward me with healing because that's His nature, not waiting for me to pass a test.
The Father didn't make the prodigal eat pig slop to teach him gratitude—He RAN to him while he still reeked of failure and threw a party. God's not using your illness as a teaching tool; He's already prepared your healing breakthrough because He's a good Father.
