"I'm being realistic by planning my funeral—false hope would be irresponsible to my family."
How it sounds in your head: My children need to know my wishes. The life insurance needs updating. I should be practical, not make them scramble when I'm gone. Hoping for healing at this stage feels selfish—like I'm not facing facts. Better to prepare them for the inevitable than leave them unprepared because I was clinging to unrealistic faith.
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."
-- Proverbs 18:21Source: World's death culture that normalizes surrender, religious teaching about 'responsible planning' that makes faith agreement with death, enemy strategy to get verbal agreement with diagnosis.
She's watched friends die unprepared, leaving chaos for families. Financial advisors, lawyers, even her church's senior ministry encourage 'getting affairs in order.' Planning funeral feels mature and loving, while refusing to do so feels naive and burdensome to loved ones.
Lazarus was DEAD four days, decomposing, already BURIED—funeral complete, mourning period underway, all 'realistic preparations' finished. Martha even protested opening the tomb because of the STENCH. Jesus called him out anyway. The funeral plans didn't make death permanent. Past the point of all human hope, Jesus still said 'LIVE.'
I REFUSE the lie that planning my funeral is wisdom—IT IS WRITTEN that death and life are in the power of MY TONGUE. I will not plant death seeds with my words to 'be realistic.' Abraham didn't plan for Isaac's funeral while Sarah was pregnant at 90; he BELIEVED GOD. IT IS WRITTEN in Mark 11:23 that I SHALL HAVE whatever I SAY—therefore I say LIFE, HEALTH, WHOLENESS, YEARS ADDED. I am Abraham's seed under BARAK blessing that reversed 90-year-old bodies and protected murderers—death has NO COVENANT CLAIM on me. I call myself HEALED, WHOLE, and ALIVE in Jesus' name. I will write TESTIMONIES, not obituaries. I will plan CELEBRATIONS of God's faithfulness, not funerals. The same voice that called Lazarus out of a four-day-old tomb speaks LIFE over me RIGHT NOW. I LIVE and not die, and declare the works of the LORD.
The Father didn't tell Martha, 'Good job being realistic about Lazarus' death and handling funeral arrangements responsibly.' He said, 'Did I not say if you would BELIEVE, you would see the glory of God?' He rewards FAITH, not resignation disguised as responsibility.
