"I'll never be seen as American enough here or authentic enough when I go back home."
How it sounds in your head: You're too foreign for America, too Americanized for your home country. Neither place claims you fully. You're an alien everywhere, belonging nowhere, caught in permanent cultural limbo. The question 'Where are you REALLY from?' haunts you.
"For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 3:20Source: Enemy exploiting third-culture identity to create perpetual outsider status, making you seek acceptance geographically instead of finding it in sonship.
You've experienced both rejections—mocked for your accent here, criticized for losing your roots there. You don't fully fit in either culture, so you perform both and master neither. The loneliness of being perpetually foreign is exhausting.
Left his homeland and never settled permanently anywhere. 'He dwelt in tents... for he waited for the city whose builder and maker is God.' He was a perpetual foreigner—and God called him blessed, made him wealthy, and gave him a covenant that outlasted every nation he visited.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too foreign everywhere. IT IS WRITTEN that my citizenship is in heaven—I'm not defined by which country claims me. I am no longer a stranger or foreigner but a member of God's household, fully belonging to Him. Abraham was a sojourner his entire life and walked in the BARAK blessing wherever he pitched his tent. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field—every culture I enter is territory for God's favor. I am a branch in the Vine—my fruitfulness flows from connection to Jesus, not acceptance from nations. My Father runs toward me declaring 'You're MINE'—no passport required. I walk in instant breakthrough because my identity is anchored in heaven, not geography.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to pick the right country to belong to—He's running toward you declaring you're His son, fully accepted in the Kingdom that existed before any border. Your citizenship is already settled, and it's eternal.
