"I'll have to work until I die because retirement is only for the rich."
How it sounds in your head: You see your parents working so hard, exhausted, talking about never being able to stop. You think retirement is some fantasy for wealthy people you'll never be. You feel trapped before you've even started.
"I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread."
-- Psalm 37:25Religious poverty spirit masquerading as humility, teaching that struggle is God's will and rest is only for the privileged.
You've never seen anyone in your circle retire comfortably, only struggle and work into old age. The evidence around you says rest is impossible for people like you.
Abram left Ur with his father's household, no mention of great wealth. After one encounter with God's covenant, Genesis 13:2 says he was 'very rich in livestock, silver and gold'—instant wealth transfer with no retirement account.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm destined for endless labor with no rest. IT IS WRITTEN that God has not forsaken the righteous or their descendants—I am righteous by Jesus' blood, not my budget. The BARAK blessing that made Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob extremely wealthy is MINE as Abraham's seed through Christ. God doesn't give me just enough to survive; Ephesians 3:20 says He does EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:12 that the Lord opens His good treasure to bless the work of my hands. Rest isn't for the rich; it's for the REDEEMED. I am blessed coming in and going out, and my latter days will be greater than my former.
The Father isn't waiting for you to earn rest through decades of labor. He's already prepared the abundant prosperity promised in Deuteronomy 28:11, the overflow that finances both your needs and your rest, simply because you're His beloved child in covenant.
