"I need to sacrifice my dreams now to maybe have security later."

How it sounds in your head: You hear that success requires sacrifice—give up fun, give up childhood, grind now for security decades away. You look at your life and feel guilty for wanting to enjoy being a kid. Security costs everything NOW for a maybe LATER.

1 Timothy 6:17

"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."

-- 1 Timothy 6:17
Enemy whispers: Sacrifice now, maybe enjoy later. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Timothy 6:17 - God 'gives us RICHLY ALL THINGS TO ENJOY.' Not someday. NOW. Not after you've earned it. Because He's GENEROUS. Jesus' first miracle was turning water into 180 GALLONS of finest wine for a PARTY. God isn't anti-joy; He's the SOURCE of joy. IT IS WRITTEN in Nehemiah 8:10 'The joy of the Lord is your strength.' Not suffering. JOY. The BARAK blessing came on Abraham, and he enjoyed it while LIVING. Isaac 'sported' with Rebekah (Gen 26:8)—they had FUN. God gives BOTH present joy AND future security. Not either/or. BOTH.
Quick Truth: LIE: Sacrifice now, joy later. TRUTH: God gives us richly ALL THINGS TO ENJOY—now and always. 1 Tim 6:17

Religious asceticism and worldly hustle culture combining to steal joy and create a false gospel of suffering now for blessing later.

Why this feels true:

Every success story you hear involves someone who sacrificed their childhood, their fun, their dreams to achieve later success. Delayed gratification is preached as the ultimate virtue.

John 2:1-11
Wedding at Cana guests

They ran out of wine during a celebration—immediate joy threatened. Jesus didn't say 'suffer through it and I'll bless you later.' He provided 180 GALLONS of the FINEST wine IMMEDIATELY so the party could continue—present joy, instant provision.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I must sacrifice joy now for security later. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives us richly ALL THINGS TO ENJOY—present tense, not future promise. The BARAK blessing isn't delayed gratification; it's ABUNDANT LIFE NOW. Jesus said in John 10:10 'I have come that they may have life, and have it MORE ABUNDANTLY'—not later, but NOW. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 37:4 'Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.' Delight NOW. Desires fulfilled NOW. God isn't asking me to sacrifice my childhood on the altar of future security. He's the God of BOTH—manna daily in the wilderness AND the Promised Land flowing with milk and honey. I receive joy today AND provision for tomorrow because He gives RICHLY, not sparingly.

But God actually:

The Father isn't a cosmic killjoy demanding you sacrifice your childhood for future security. He's the Dad who throws parties, who made fruit taste good, who designed you to ENJOY life—He wants you blessed NOW and blessed LATER, because that's who He is.
