"God is punishing my finances because of my past financial mistakes."
How it sounds in your head: I made foolish decisions—spending I shouldn't have, investments I was warned about, debt I accumulated. Now I'm reaping what I sowed. God is teaching me a lesson. This lack is what I deserve for my irresponsibility.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Source: Religious karma gospel that makes God a scorekeeper punishing past mistakes instead of a Father who covers them.
The consequences feel directly connected to the choices—bad decision, bad outcome. Religious teaching about sowing and reaping makes punishment seem theologically sound.
He blew his ENTIRE inheritance on prostitutes and parties—complete financial irresponsibility. When he returned broke and smelling like pigs, the Father didn't lecture about reaping what you sow or make him work it off. He threw a PARTY, restored him FULLY, and celebrated his return.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing my finances for past mistakes. IT IS WRITTEN that He forgave ALL my trespasses and nailed every requirement against me to the cross. My financial past was covered by Jesus' blood! IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ. The BARAK blessing isn't performance-based—Abraham lied and got RICHER. God isn't a scorekeeper; He's a FATHER running toward me with restoration, not punishment!
Your Father isn't withholding provision to teach you financial discipline—He's the Father who threw a party for the son who blew everything. Religion wants you doing penance; your Father wants you at the feast wearing the robe of righteousness He already provided.
