"If I were more surrendered, more broken before God, He would move in my life."
How it sounds in your head: I must still have pride, self-will, areas I haven't surrendered. That's why nothing changes. If I could just get LOW enough, BROKEN enough, DESPERATE enough, then God would finally intervene. My stubborn self is the problem.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Source: Religion's 'brokenness is the key' teaching that makes humiliation a work you perform to earn God's attention instead of receiving His grace.
You've heard testimonies of people hitting rock bottom and THEN God moved. You think maybe you're not broken enough yet, so you manufacture desperation hoping it triggers His response like a spiritual vending machine.
Zacchaeus was a wealthy, corrupt tax collector who climbed a tree out of CURIOSITY, not brokenness. Jesus invited Himself to dinner, and transformation happened AFTER acceptance, not before. No groveling required. Jesus pursued HIM.
I REFUSE the lie that I must break myself to earn God's attention. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL a sinner, Christ died for me. His love isn't triggered by my performance of brokenness—it's CONSTANT because of His NATURE. IT IS WRITTEN that it's HIS GOODNESS that leads me to repentance, not my manufactured desperation. I don't grovel for breakthrough. I RECEIVE it as a DAUGHTER. I am loved, pursued, and blessed RIGHT NOW by the BARAK covenant that never depended on my level of surrender.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to be broken enough. He's been pursuing you while you were WHOLE and stubborn and proud. He doesn't love broken versions of you more—He loves YOU, and His breakthrough comes from His GOODNESS, not your groveling.
