"If I skip meals, I'll finally have the control and body I want."
How it sounds in your head: Restricting feels like power. Not eating feels like winning. If I can just control my food intake perfectly, I can control how my body looks. Hunger means I'm succeeding. Empty feels safe.
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
-- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20Source: Enemy twisting discipline into destruction, turning self-control into self-harm disguised as virtue.
Restriction gives an immediate sense of control in a life that feels chaotic, and the scale initially rewards starvation with lower numbers that feel like achievement.
Elijah wanted to die and stopped eating. God's response wasn't 'good, fast longer' - it was 'GET UP AND EAT' (twice!). An angel brought fresh bread and water because the journey ahead required nourishment. God commanded eating for someone suicidal.
I REFUSE the lie that restriction equals control or that starving myself brings the life I want. IT IS WRITTEN that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I will glorify God by nourishing what He inhabits. Starvation is the thief's plan to steal, kill, destroy. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT life - that includes abundant nourishment and freedom around food. I am blessed in my eating, blessed in my health, blessed in my strength. The BARAK blessing covers my physical well-being. I am the head and not the tail. I eat in FREEDOM and ABUNDANCE.
Your Father isn't proud when you skip meals - He grieves watching His daughter harm the body He lovingly created. He's not applauding your hunger; He's preparing a TABLE before you and inviting you to EAT without shame, without fear, without punishment. He wants you NOURISHED, not shrinking.
