"I have to earn the right to eat by exercising or being good enough."
How it sounds in your head: You calculate every bite against every step, every calorie against every minute of cardio. Rest days feel like failure. Eating without 'deserving' it feels like theft. You can't enjoy a meal without mental math, can't have dessert without punishment planned. Food is no longer fuel or pleasure—it's a test you're constantly failing or a reward you're constantly chasing.
"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"

Because you've seen the math—calories in, calories out—and it feels scientific, controllable, fair. Because everywhere you look, wellness influencers preach 'earn your food' and 'work for your body,' making rest sound like laziness and eating sound like indulgence that must be balanced.
Elijah was suicidal, depressed, running in fear, hiding under a tree wanting to die—and God's response wasn't 'earn this meal through better faith.' An angel woke him with fresh bread and water, twice, saying only 'Arise and eat.' God fed his failure, his fear, his despair—no conditions.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn food through exercise or good behavior. IT IS WRITTEN that my Heavenly Father feeds the birds who neither sow nor reap, and I am of far more value than they. Food is PROVISION, not a reward system managed by my performance. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I honor it by receiving nourishment with gratitude, not guilt. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:8 that the Lord commands the blessing on my storehouses—that includes my pantry, my plate, my portion. I am FREE from the prison of earning every bite. I eat as a beloved daughter receiving from a generous Father.
The Father isn't standing over your plate with a calculator, checking if you've done enough to deserve this meal. He's the One who spread the table, who made taste buds for pleasure, who invented flavor and calls you to sit and eat and enjoy—because you're His child, not His employee.
