"My eating struggles disqualify me from being used by God or having spiritual authority"
How it sounds in your head: You feel like a hypocrite - how can you pray for others, lead, or speak truth when you're secretly battling food and body image? You disqualify yourself from opportunities because you feel too broken, too weak in this area to be trusted with influence.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Religion + enemy - religious teaching says you must have it all together to minister, church culture values appearance of perfection over authenticity, shame says struggles disqualify you
Religious spaces often demand perfection and hide struggles. You've heard 'you can't give what you don't have' and 'remove the plank from your own eye.' You feel like addressing your food issues is a prerequisite to being used by God, and until then, you need to sit on the sidelines.
Gideon was hiding in a winepress, afraid, from the weakest clan, the least in his family - disqualified by every measure. God called him 'mighty warrior' WHILE he was hiding and immediately sent him to deliver Israel. God used him not after he got his act together, but in his fear and weakness.
I REFUSE the lie that my eating struggles disqualify me from being used by God or having spiritual authority. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made perfect in weakness, and He chose the weak things to confound the strong - that includes me. I am not waiting to be 'fixed' before I'm useful; God uses broken vessels to display His power. IT IS WRITTEN that God calls things that are not as though they were - He called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he hid. The BARAK blessing is mine not because I'm perfect but because of covenant. The Father doesn't wait for me to have it all together; He calls me mighty, chosen, and sent RIGHT NOW in the middle of my struggle.
The Father doesn't see your food struggle as disqualification - He sees an opportunity to display His strength perfected in your weakness. He called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he was hiding, and He's calling you chosen, equipped, and sent while you're still in process.
