"I've blown it so many times with food that God is disappointed in me."
How it sounds in your head: You've started and failed a hundred diets. You promise yourself and God 'this time will be different,' then fall back into old patterns. You imagine God shaking His head in frustration. You feel like the woman at the well—too many failures to count.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religion + enemy: Religious teaching that God's patience runs out; Satan condemns you for every failure and says God is keeping score.
You've genuinely tried and failed repeatedly. You've broken promises to yourself and prayed-for breakthrough hasn't come. You feel like the Israelites wandering in circles, never reaching the promised land because of your weakness.
Peter denied Jesus THREE TIMES—swore he didn't know Him, cursed, ran away. Epic, public failure. Jesus' response after resurrection? Made him breakfast on the beach and restored him INSTANTLY. Didn't make him prove himself or work through a redemption process. Asked 'Do you love Me?' three times and gave him the keys to the church.
I REFUSE the lie that God is disappointed in me. IT IS WRITTEN that His compassions are NEW EVERY MORNING—today's mercy is fresh regardless of yesterday's failure. I am not defined by how many times I've started over; I'm defined by whose I am. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not 'less condemnation after you mess up' but NONE. The BARAK blessing didn't depend on Abraham getting it right—he lied repeatedly and God still protected him. I am Abraham's seed, and the blessing covers my failures. God's faithfulness is GREAT, not because I'm faithful, but because HE IS.
The Father isn't counting your failures—He's preparing breakfast on the beach like He did for Peter. He's not waiting for you to earn your way back into His good graces; He's running toward you with the robe and ring BEFORE you've proven anything. Today is a new day, and His mercy just refreshed for you THIS MORNING.
