"If I relapse, I'll disappoint everyone who believed in me."
How it sounds in your head: My family, my girlfriend, my accountability group—they're all watching to see if I stay clean. If I mess up, I'll let them all down and prove I'm not worth the investment they made in me.

Mark abandoned Paul and Barnabas mid-mission, causing such disappointment that Paul refused to take him again. Years later, Paul wrote, 'Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is USEFUL to me'—total restoration despite massive failure.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm performing for others' approval. IT IS WRITTEN that I seek to please GOD, not men—and His approval was settled at the cross. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing can separate me from His love—not failure, not relapse, NOTHING. I'm not staying sober to maintain others' hope in me; I'm walking in freedom because the Father already declared me WORTHY through His Son. The BARAK that blessed Abraham even when he LIED blesses me even when I stumble. I am LOVED, period.
The Father's love isn't contingent on your performance or others' approval ratings. He loved you at your worst, died for you in the pigpen, and He's not keeping a 'disappointment tally.' You're His beloved son, and that status doesn't fluctuate.
