"If I had more faith, I'd be healed by now—this is my fault."
How it sounds in your head: I've prayed and believed, but I'm still sick. Maybe I don't have enough faith. Maybe there's some secret level of belief I haven't reached, and that's why I'm still in this bed. I've failed at faith.
"When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.'"
-- Matthew 8:16-17Religion made healing dependent on the perfection of her faith instead of the finished work of Jesus.
She's heard stories of instant healings and wonders why hers hasn't come, and the only explanation she's been given is 'more faith.' The lack of visible results makes her question her own belief.
Man was sick 38 YEARS, lying by a pool waiting for a miracle. Jesus asked, 'Do you want to be made well?' The man didn't say 'I believe'—he made EXCUSES. Jesus healed him ANYWAY—immediately, without a faith confession.
I REFUSE the lie that my healing depends on the perfection of my faith. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were sick because HE bore my sicknesses—past tense, finished work. Healing flows from what HE did, not from what I do. The man at Bethesda had excuses, not faith, and Jesus healed him ANYWAY. IT IS WRITTEN that it's by His STRIPES I was healed, not by my faith level. I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST, not because of my spiritual performance. The BARAK blessing isn't earned by faith—it's received by covenant, the same way Abraham was blessed even when he LIED.
Your Father isn't standing over you with a faith-o-meter waiting for you to hit the right level—He's the One who healed the man who made EXCUSES. He didn't wait for perfect faith then, and He's not waiting for it now. He's running toward you with healing because that's who HE is.
