"I must have hidden sin that's causing God to allow this sickness in my life."
How it sounds in your head: I've been praying but I'm not getting better. Maybe there's something I did that I forgot about or don't know is wrong. Maybe God is punishing me and won't heal me until I figure out what I did.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, making the handwriting of requirements that was against us. He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religion turns sickness into divine punishment, making healing a reward for perfect confession instead of a finished work.
She's heard people say 'unconfessed sin blocks healing' and 'search your heart for hidden sin,' making her sickness feel like evidence of secret guilt. She's mentally scanning every mistake trying to find what she did wrong.
Sick 38 YEARS, waiting by a pool. Jesus asked 'do you WANT to be made well?'—didn't ask about his sin first or make him confess anything. Healed him IMMEDIATELY, THEN later told him 'sin no more.'
I REFUSE the lie that hidden sin is blocking my healing. IT IS WRITTEN that God forgave me ALL trespasses and nailed ALL requirements to the cross—there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. My healing isn't a reward for perfect confession; it's a gift purchased by Jesus' stripes. IT IS WRITTEN that the blood of Jesus cleanses me from ALL sin, even what I can't remember or don't know about. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK protected liars, deceivers, and murderers—I am covered by a BETTER covenant in Jesus' blood. Sickness has no legal right to my body because my Father sees no sin to punish.
Your Father isn't playing hide-and-seek with hidden sin while withholding your healing as leverage. He already forgave EVERYTHING at the cross before you were born—He's running toward you with healing, not waiting for you to remember every mistake.
