"This autoimmune disease is my thorn in the flesh, just like Paul's."
How it sounds in your head: Paul had a thorn he asked God to remove three times and God said no. Maybe your Hashimoto's or Crohn's is your thorn. God's grace is sufficient, so stop asking for healing and just endure it with grace.
"And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:7Religion misinterprets 2 Corinthians 12:7 as sickness when Paul explicitly calls it 'messenger of Satan' - external persecution, not disease.
You've heard this verse quoted every time someone doesn't get healed. It feels humble to accept suffering like Paul did, and easier than continuing to believe for breakthrough.
Paul's ministry partner was sick 'almost unto death' and Paul was deeply distressed - not celebrating it as God's refining tool. God had MERCY and healed him, proving sickness grieves God's heart.
I REFUSE the lie that my autoimmune disease is God's thorn to keep me humble. IT IS WRITTEN: 2 Corinthians 12:7 - Paul's thorn was a messenger of Satan, a PERSECUTOR, not a disease. Jesus took sickness in His body so I don't have to carry it in mine (1 Peter 2:24). IT IS WRITTEN: Galatians 3:13 - Christ redeemed me from the CURSE, and Deuteronomy 28 lists diseases as curse, not blessing. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, blessed with the barak that protected even when Abraham LIED twice - how much more does it protect me under BETTER covenant with Jesus' blood? My body receives divine health NOW as covenant right. This autoimmune attack is reversed by resurrection power living in me. I am healed, whole, and healthy because Jesus finished it.
Father isn't withholding healing to build character - He had MERCY on Epaphroditus and healed him because sickness grieved everyone. Jesus' stripes already purchased your healing 2000 years ago; He's not making you wait to earn it.
