"If I had faith like the people in the Bible, miracles would happen for me too."
How it sounds in your head: I read about healings and crazy miracles in the Bible and think those people must have had special faith. Mine feels so small and ordinary. If I was more like them, I'd see God move like they did.
"Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months."
-- James 5:17Source: Putting biblical figures on an unrealistic pedestal, forgetting they were flawed humans who also struggled with doubt and fear.
She reads Bible stories highlighting the miraculous outcomes without seeing the messy humanity behind them. This makes biblical faith feel like an unattainable superpower instead of simple trust.
Gideon argued with God, demanded THREE separate signs because he doubted, and called himself the weakest in his family. God used him anyway to defeat a massive army, proving miracles happen through weak, doubting people, not faith-superstars.
I REFUSE the lie that Bible people had special faith I'll never have. IT IS WRITTEN that Elijah was a man with a nature LIKE OURS - he had panic attacks AND stopped rain for 3.5 years! Gideon doubted so hard he demanded three signs and God used him to defeat armies anyway. IT IS WRITTEN that faith as small as a mustard seed moves mountains, so I don't need their 'level' of faith - I need connection to the same God they had! The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives IN ME (Romans 8:11). I have the same access, the same promises, the same barak blessing because I'm in the same covenant through Jesus' blood.
Your Father doesn't require you to have faith like biblical heroes before He moves. Those heroes were scared, doubting, messy humans who simply reached for Him in their weakness, and He's waiting to do the same for you today.
