"I was the wrong gender—my parents wanted a boy and got stuck with me instead."
How it sounds in your head: You heard the comments growing up, maybe subtle, maybe overt. 'We were hoping for a boy.' 'Your father always wanted a son.' The way you were dressed, the sports you were pushed into, the disappointment in their eyes. Now at 76, you wonder if you spent your whole life trying to compensate for being born female.
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

In a culture that heavily favored sons, she gave birth to the deliverer of Israel—a son, yes, but her courage, her faith, her quick thinking saved him. Later, her daughter Miriam became a prophetess and leader—proving God uses daughters mightily regardless of cultural preference.
I REFUSE the lie that I was the wrong gender or a disappointment because I'm female. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ there is neither male nor female—we are all one, equal heirs. God doesn't make mistakes, and He didn't make one when He created me as a woman. My parents' preferences are irrelevant to Heaven's celebration of my birth. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail—the BARAK blessing doesn't skip daughters. I am fully wanted, fully valued, fully equipped for everything God called me to do. I declare I am exactly who God intended me to be, and that is glorious.
The Father rejoiced the moment He created you female—He didn't want a son, He wanted YOU, exactly as you are. He crafted your femininity with intention and delight, and has never once wished you were different.
