"My parents wish they had a different kid instead of me."
How it sounds in your head: When I mess up, they look disappointed. They compare me to other kids who are smarter or better at sports. I see them smile at my friends more than at me. Maybe they wish they got someone else.
"The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Comparison weapon from enemy, twisting normal correction into rejection evidence, using performance as proof of love.
He sees parents praise other kids or express frustration when he fails. His developing identity can't separate 'I'm disappointed in this choice' from 'I'm disappointed in YOU,' reading correction as rejection.
Leah was the unwanted wife - her husband LITERALLY wished he had her sister instead. Yet God SAW her rejection and OPENED her womb - she became the mother of Judah, the MESSIANIC line, while the 'wanted' sister stayed barren for years.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm second choice or unwanted. IT IS WRITTEN that my Heavenly Father REJOICES over me with singing - He's not disappointed, He's CELEBRATING. Human comparison is IRRELEVANT when Heaven is throwing a party over my existence. IT IS WRITTEN that I am ACCEPTED in the Beloved, chosen before the foundation of the world. The BARAK blessing doesn't compare - it COVERS. I am not competing for love. I am CROWNED with it. God doesn't wish I was different. He's singing over who I am RIGHT NOW.
While you're wondering if you measure up, your Father is composing SONGS about you. He's not critiquing - He's CELEBRATING. Every time you walk in a room, Heaven erupts in applause not for who you'll become, but for who you ARE.
