"My parents only had me to save their marriage, and it didn't work."
How it sounds in your head: They thought a baby would fix things but they still fight. I was supposed to be glue but I'm just a witness to the breaking. I failed at my job before I could talk.
"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."
-- Ezekiel 18:20Enemy assigning him responsibility for adult dysfunction, making him the failed solution instead of the blameless child.
He senses the marriage is fragile or broken. Someone said or implied he was meant to 'help' or 'bring them together.' He interprets parental conflict as evidence of his inadequacy.
Joseph was born into a dysfunctional family with wives who hated each other and brothers who wanted him dead. He didn't fix the family—he was sold into slavery. Yet God made him second in command of Egypt and the family had to bow to him for salvation.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm responsible for my parents' relationship. IT IS WRITTEN that the son does not bear the guilt of the father. I am not the glue, the fix, or the savior of this family. I am the SON, loved and celebrated by Heaven regardless of what happens around me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am God's workmanship created for good works HE prepared—not to repair broken marriages but to walk in my destiny. The BARAK blessing is on me independent of family dysfunction—I am blessed, I am chosen, I am free from adult responsibilities that were never mine.
The Father sees you trapped under expectations you were never meant to carry. He's running toward you to lift the weight off, whispering: 'You're my beloved son in whom I am well pleased—not because you fixed anything, but because you're MINE.'
