"I slept with my girlfriend. God can't use me now until I prove myself pure again."
How it sounds in your head: You know better. You led worship last Sunday and sinned Saturday night. You're a hypocrite. Real men of God have self-control. You need at least a year of purity before you can serve again or God will take you seriously.
"When the LORD began to speak by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea: 'Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry and children of harlotry, for the land has committed great harlotry by departing from the LORD.'"
-- Hosea 1:2Religious performance lie that God's use of you depends on your sexual purity instead of Christ's purity credited to you.
The shame hits immediately and churches bench people for sexual sin. You feel like a fraud leading others when you can't control yourself, and purity culture taught you that sexual sin uniquely disqualifies you.
Judah slept with who he thought was a prostitute (actually his daughter-in-law Tamar), got her pregnant outside marriage. God put him directly in the MESSIANIC LINE - Jesus came through Judah's sexually immoral encounter, listed in Matthew's genealogy without shame.
I REFUSE the lie that sexual sin uniquely disqualifies me from God's use. IT IS WRITTEN that God started Hosea's ministry by having him marry a prostitute - God doesn't wait for me to prove purity. I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST, not through sexual performance. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ. My identity is GIFT, not achievement. The blood covers last night and qualifies me today. I am Abraham's seed, blessed by covenant not behavior.
The Father doesn't put you on probation - He puts the robe on you while you still smell like your sin. That sexual failure you think benched you doesn't change His call on your life one bit because His call is based on His nature, not your purity streak.
