"I should have seen this coming; I'm a fool for not preparing better."
How it sounds in your head: You ignored the signs. You should have had more savings. A smarter man would have networked better, taken that other offer, seen the layoffs coming. This is your fault for being naive. You failed at basic adulting.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
-- Proverbs 3:5-6Enemy—condemnation and false responsibility for things outside your control.
There were rumors you didn't act on. Your emergency fund wasn't big enough. Other people seemed to know and jumped ship. You feel stupid for trusting things would work out.
Abraham tried to 'prepare' by having a child with Hagar when Sarah couldn't conceive—seemed smart, but was wrong. God didn't cancel the promise because of Abraham's mistake. Isaac still came exactly when God planned, despite Abraham's 'preparation' fail.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a fool for not predicting this. IT IS WRITTEN to trust in the Lord and not lean on my own understanding—God directs my paths. I don't need perfect foresight; I need perfect trust. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good to those who love God. Abraham made a 'preparation' mistake with Hagar, but God's promise still came through Isaac. The BARAK blessing on my life isn't canceled by what I didn't predict. God is directing this path.
The Father isn't disappointed in your lack of foresight—He's been preparing for this moment all along. What you call a failure to prepare, He calls an opportunity to display His provision. He's not frustrated; He's faithful.
