"I should stop wanting things or asking for anything so I don't make things harder."
How it sounds in your head: I wanted to ask for new cleats because mine have holes, but I didn't because I know we can't afford them. I told my mom I didn't want a birthday party this year even though I do. I pretend I don't need things so they don't have to feel bad. Maybe if I want less, it'll be easier for everyone.
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
-- Matthew 7:11Enemy using financial pressure to silence a child's voice and make her shrink her needs, stealing the joy of childhood and planting seeds of self-neglect.
She's watching her parents stress and she's trying to be the 'easy kid' by making herself smaller, quieter, and less needy. She's learning to suppress legitimate desires to avoid being a burden, which will shape unhealthy patterns into adulthood if not corrected.
Jairus' 12-year-old daughter was dying, and when Jesus arrived, she was already DEAD. People said, 'Don't bother the teacher anymore.' But Jesus took her by the hand, said 'Little girl, arise,' and she INSTANTLY came back to life. Then He told them to give her something to eat—He cared about her physical needs too. She wasn't too much. She was loved and provided for.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to shrink my needs or silence my desires to make things easier. IT IS WRITTEN that my Father in heaven LOVES giving good gifts to His children, and I am His daughter. My needs are not burdens—they're opportunities for Him to provide. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives me the desires of my heart when I delight in Him. I am not too much. I am LOVED. The BARAK blessing covers every area of my life—He provides, He protects, He prospers. I can ask boldly because He is a GOOD Father who loves to bless me.
Your Father sees every need you're not voicing and every desire you're suppressing, and He's not frustrated—He's moved. He's preparing to provide in ways that will surprise you, and He wants you to know that you are never too much for Him. Ask. He's listening, and He's eager to answer.
