"I should have seen the signs earlier; their rebellion is proof I was blind and negligent."
How it sounds in your head: You missed it. Looking back, the signs were there—the withdrawal, the new friends, the small compromises. You were busy, distracted, trusted when you should've investigated. If you'd caught it earlier, you could've stopped this. Your negligence let it metastasize. A better parent would've known.
"Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them."
-- Psalm 139:16Enemy rewrites history with hindsight condemnation—making you prosecute yourself for not being omniscient like God.
Retrospect shows patterns you didn't see in real-time. The 'what ifs' torture you. Other parents caught it earlier. You feel responsible for every moment you weren't vigilant.
Jacob completely missed that his sons HATED Joseph enough to murder him—missed years of brewing resentment. They sold Joseph into slavery while Jacob was blind to it. But Joseph later said 'You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.' God used what Jacob 'missed' to save nations.
I REFUSE the lie that I was negligent or that I should've seen this coming. IT IS WRITTEN that God saw 'all the days fashioned for me when there were none of them' (Psalm 139:16)—He wasn't SURPRISED by what I 'missed.' I'm not omniscient; I'm not required to be. IT IS WRITTEN: 'All things work together for good' (Romans 8:28)—even the things I didn't catch, God is weaving into redemption. Jacob missed his sons' hatred of Joseph, but God used it to save nations. I am a BRANCH abiding in the Vine—my job is CONNECTION, not perfect perception. The BARAK blessing covers what I didn't see. God's sovereignty is bigger than my blindspots.
The Father wasn't surprised by what you 'missed'—He saw the whole story before it started and is already working every 'missed sign' into the redemption plan. Your imperfect awareness doesn't derail His perfect faithfulness.
